Paraffin therapy is a heat treatment method in which heated paraffin is used as a thermal medium. The therapeutic use of paraffin’s thermal properties was first proposed in 1902 by the French physician Bart de Sandfort, who used it as an alternative to mud therapy in patients with rheumatism and joint involvement. In 1904, he published his first work on paraffin treatment.
