Balneology

Balneology is a branch of medical science concerned with the treatment of diseases through the influence of mineral water and procedures associated therewith. It is widely demonstrated in numerous diseases such as musculoskeletal problems, arthritis, neuralgia, impotence, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and renal and urological diseases.

BALNEOTREATMENT

BalneoTreatment (Latin ‘balneum’, bath) is a form of treatment using water baths. It can take place both with hot or cold water, which in most cases is rich in minerals. Water is the most ancient cure for many diseases – both physically and mentally. The most common disease today is the stress caused by the rapid speed of live. BalneoTreatment is an old method known since the ancient Thracians, Greeks and Romans.
Evidence therefore are found in archaeological excavations of Roman bath tiles, Thracian vessels for crushing herbs and ointments, sculptures of the Roman God Healer. Today, the interest in balneology is not subsided.
