Ergon Therapy

Ergon Therapy

Ergon therapy is a technique developed after years of research, clinical application, and feedback from patients who have undergone the treatment. It combines static and dynamic manipulation of soft tissues using specialized clinical equipment (Ergon tools). This technique effectively addresses myofascial restrictions and injuries. The name of the technique comes from the Greek word “Ergon,” meaning “the product of human activity, whether manual, intellectual, scientific, or artistic labor.”

Applications of Ergon Therapy

Primary Therapy Uses:

Ergon therapy is used as a primary treatment for:

  • Tendinopathies
  • Foot tendinopathies
  • Muscle injuries (subacute and chronic stages of treatment)
  • Ligament injuries (remodeling phase)
  • Limitations in joint range of motion (frozen shoulder, post-surgical adhesions, scar tissue, Dupuytren’s syndrome)
  • Myofascial trigger points – muscle spasms – pain syndromes
  • Bursitis

Complementary Therapy Uses:

Ergon therapy is also used as a complementary treatment for:

  • Pain syndromes in the neck area
  • Pain syndromes in the back area
  • Lower back pain, sciatica (lumbago, sciatica)
  • Nerve damage

Effects of Ergon Therapy

The main focus of Ergon therapy is the connective tissue (fascia) in the human body. Fascia is primarily composed of collagen, located beneath the skin, providing stabilization and connective functions, and it also separates muscles from other internal organs. It is a network of connective tissue that surrounds almost everything in our body. There are several types of fascia: superficial, deep, and organ (parietal).

Benefits of Ergon Therapy:

  • Releases connections between connective tissues
  • Stimulates anabolic (building) processes in the connective tissue
  • Promotes collagen production
  • Restores the elasticity of connective and muscle tissue
  • Increases skin temperature
  • Improves muscle reflexes in cases of incorrect patterns
  • Enhances the myotatic reflex and neuromuscular control
  • Reduces tension in one or more joints
  • Promotes better healing by increasing blood circulation to and within the treated area
  • Improves lymphatic drainage and vein resistance
  • Increases cellular regeneration and activity
  • Reduces pain and muscle spasms
